We conclude our Soccer 101 series with a look at the forward position, with the help of Ashley Nagy of the Georgia State University women’s soccer team.

Ashley’s credentials are impressive. As a sophomore at GSU, she played in all 17 games last year, totaling 19 points on eight goals and three assists, which earned her a spot on the All-Sun Belt Conference first team. Ashley’s successful off the pitch as well, having made the GSU Dean’s List as a finance major.

The Georgia Gwinnett College women’s and men’s soccer teams had a successful week in preparation for hosting the AII postseason tournament later this month. The GGC women started the week by taking a 1-0 double-overtime win at home against West Georgia. Mary Vernetti knocked in the game winner, moving the Grizzlies to 13-3-1 on the year.

The New York Cosmos clinched the NASL Fall Championship Saturday night with a win over San Antonio. The Cosmos will now face the Atlanta Silverbacks – two weeks in a row.  Saturday, November 2 is the final regular season game for both teams. Katrina Frost scored two goals as the Kennesaw State University Owls defeated Northern Kentucky University 2-0, improving the Owls record to 2-0 in the Atlantic Sun conference. But after the game, the number everyone was talking about was 150.
