Houston Hurricanes claim unassailable lead with felling of Timberz

Diboll (TX) In week 15s second match, Houston Hurricanes knew a win would secure top spot in the league and with it the Supporters Regular Season Shield and number 1 seeding for the championships. Texas Timberz, playing their final league game this season, would hope for victory in order to secure a higher seeding. After the 90 minutes of play, the victory would go the way of the Houston side.

The only goal of the first half would be scored by Jose Martinez of the Hurricanes on 20 minutes.
Just minutes into the second half Jorge Vela would double the lead for the visitors and a further goal was added on 52 minutes from Carlos Rabago. Roy Hernandez finished off the scoring for the Hurricanes on 65 minutes.

Texas Timberz grabbed a consolation goal on 80 minutes but it was too little too late for the home side.

The victory sees the Hurricanes take top spot, now unassailable by any others, yet with one game left to play, they could still alter the seeding of both ARC and Twin Cities in this final game with the Austin side. Texas Timberz will end in fourth spot and with it the playoff spot that goes with it.

Austin overcome Twin Cities to take second place in TPSL

Austin (TX) In this weekend TPSL early kick-off, ARC welcomed Twin Cities to the Capital, knowing a home team victory would push the Austin side into second spot come days end.

A hat trick of goals from goal scoring machine Erwin Madrid would earn the 3 points for the home side and although Ivan Hernandez would grab a consolation, his Twin Cities side would drop below the ARC side, if only on goal difference.

ARC took the lead on 25 minutes but were pegged back to 1-1 on the half hour mark by the Hernandez goal. However the score would not stay that way long as Madrid scored once again prior to the half time break. Madrid added his third 10 minutes into the second half to secure the victory despite the late goal from the visiting Twin Cities side.

ARC now move onto the Texas State Cup final next weekend, facing Galveston Pirates whom they defeated last week, before facing Houston Hurricanes in their final game on the 21st of this month.

Twin Cities face Rancheros midweek in their final game where the three points would be a welcome push to winning second spot.
